What is First Aid?

First Aid is the immediate care given to a person suffering from an illness or injury until full medical treatment is available. The NHSF/PHA First Aid course teaches participants to respond confidently to common medical emergencies and injuries in both professional and everyday settings.

This course follows the NHSF/PHA Guidelines, combining the latest research and international best practices in emergency response.

Course Objectives

By completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Recognize common first aid emergencies
• Provide appropriate first aid for a variety of injuries and illnesses
• Offer safe and effective care until advanced help arrives
• Protect themselves and the injured person by following safety protocols

What You’ll Learn

The First Aid course includes:

• Scene safety and personal protection
• How to assess a medical emergency
• Bleeding control and wound care
• Burns, fractures, and sprains
• Seizures, fainting, and diabetic emergencies
• Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
• Heatstroke, hypothermia, and poisoning
• Using an epinephrine pen
• First aid for choking in responsive and unresponsive victims

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an NHSF/PHA First Aid Certification eCard, valid for 2 years, and accepted internationally.

Course Duration

• Standard Course: 3 to 4 hours
• May be combined with BLS or CPR/AED courses for a full emergency training package.
