Early Stroke Recognition. Rapid Action. Better Outcomes.
What is ASLS?
Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) is a specialized, evidence-based training course. It’s designed to teach early recognition, accurate assessment, and timely management of stroke in both pre hospital and hospital settings.
This course fills a critical knowledge gap by training healthcare providers to identify stroke symptoms quickly—even in non-obvious cases—and initiate immediate care using standardized stroke protocols, helping to improve survival and reduce long-term disability.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:
Recognize the 5 major types of stroke syndromes
Use the MEND Exam (Miami Emergency Neurologic Deficit) for rapid assessment
Distinguish between stroke and stroke mimics
Initiate time-sensitive stroke protocols including “stroke alerts”
Understand the role of pre hospital notification and stroke team activation
Facilitate timely administration of thrombolytic or transfer for thrombectomy
Improve communication and coordination across the stroke care chain
Who Should Take ASLS?
This course is ideal for:
Emergency Physicians and Nurses
Neurologists and Stroke Team Members
EMS Providers and Paramedics
